The Gift of Perfect Peace

[Jesus said] “The gift of peace I leave with you.  The supernatural peace I have I give to you.  It’s peace the world cannot give or understand.” (John 14: 27)

From Darkness to Light

“Those who live in God’s truth are filled with God’s light so others can see God working in them.” (John 3: 21)

Father,

Thank you for taking me out of darkness,

And filling me with your light.

Let your light shine brightly within me,

Let others see your light through me.

Amen

God Wants to Answer Your Prayers

“Jesus said, ‘I want to answer your request. Be healed!'” (Matthew 8: 3)

God delights to answer when we ask expecting him to.

Father,

Thank you for always answering my prayers,

even though sometimes in ways I don’t expect.

Hear my heartfelt prayers and help me in my unbelief.

Let me see your answers even the ones I don’t expect.

Amen

Built on the Rock, Safe From the Storms

“The rains poured, the rivers flooded, the wind howled beating against that house, yet, it stood strong and secure because it’s foundation was built on the solid rock.” (Matthew 7: 25)

Storms may threaten you but you are secure when your house is built on the rock.

Lord,

Thank you that when storms have blown I have rested secure in your house,

And no matter what storms may threaten I rest in peace knowing your house can’t be moved.

Keep me secure in the storms of life, keep me safe when the rain and wind threaten,

In the midst of the storm help me to focus on the strength of your house rather than of the storm.

Amen

A Strong Foundation for a Strong Life

“Everyone who listens to my words and follows them is wise like a person who builds his house on a strong foundation.” (Matthew 7: 24)

God’s word is the rock that gives foundation to your life but only when you trust it and follow it.

Father,

Thank you for your word which gives me faith and guides my steps,

As I read it I gain wisdom and as I believe it I gain strength.

When faced with decisions help me to focus on your word first,

And give me the confidence to believe it and live it.

Amen

You Will Be Blessed Beyond Imagination

“No one has seen or heard or even imagined all that God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

Father,

Thank you for all you’ve given me.  So often greater than anything I ever imagined.

And though I may not be able to even imagine what you offer I look forward to it.

Let me see and hear and experience those blessings I can’t even imagine.

Forgive me for so often limiting you by my own limits of imagination.

Help me look, listen and imagine all the amazing gifts you have for me.

And I praise you in anticipation of those blessings beyond what I can even imagine.

Amen

Today’s Encouragement: Not a Slave but a Son

“You are no longer a slave, but instead my son.” (Galatians 4:7)

Religion and society tell you, “You’re a powerless slave.”  Jesus says instead, “You’re my power-filled child.”

Sunday Music: “What a Beautiful Name” by Hillsong

I’ve found such incredible peace in the midst of some perplexing times in listening to this song.  I hope you take the time to enjoy it.

Oh, and for today maybe skip the NBA and enjoy the ones you love.  There’ll be another game tomorrow in their interminable season.

Blessings!

Spirit Hacker 2.0 Launches

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been seven weeks since I posted.

I’ve had quite a journey.

We traveled some including a week in Cabo and a week with our daughter in Monterey.

We had a lovely time off over the holidays with our family.

And it’s been a journey spiritually as well.

After two years of writing this blog I felt spent.  I needed a fresh vision.  So I spent a lot of time thinking, praying and writing.  I questioned everything about the blog including how I was writing it and why.

From that process I can honestly say I have a renewed vision of what I would like to see accomplished.  And a fresh vision of how to do that.

You’ll see some changes in version 2.0.  The posts are half the length and I plan to publish posts 4-5 times a week instead of 2.

I think this will encourage people to read them everyday because you can read them in less than a minute.  Yet, it will show up most week days to give you some encouragement for that day.

I have a few other changes in mind as well but those are developing as we speak.

So welcome to Spirit Hacker 2.0.  I hope you enjoy it and it blesses you.

Please let me know what you think.

Blessings on the journey.

A Short Hiatus

I’ve been writing this blog for over two years.  It’s time for a short break to evaluate it.

We’ve been gone and are leaving on another trip shortly.  So it feels like a good time to step away from the daily pressure of producing posts to listen to God and explore my heart about the blog.

If you have input on what you enjoy and on what could be stronger please email me.  As always I love to have you join me in this adventure.

Be back soon.

Until then be blessed.
