We live in a world that seems out of control.
Mad men threatening nuclear holocaust. Countries stealing territory and daring others to stop them. Terrorists killing each other and threatening to kill us.
Our government spying on us, lying, attacking if our views differ from theirs.
And our reaction? We fear our world and country are spinning dangerously out of control and there is nothing we can do.
So we grow more despondent and hopeless. Which solves nothing and keeps us from living this life to the fullest.
Yet, this verse offers a different perspective.
God hasn’t forgotten us. I don’t understand the complexity of how God interacts with his creation but I know he does. He sees what’s happening and intercedes at times.
And in the proper season he’ll finish what he started. In the end everything and everyone will be brought under his control.
Men who seem so powerful right now will be weak.
Spiritual beings who wreck havoc will be banished.
And how does this make a difference right now?
When we shift our focus from those we think hold control to the one who truly does it changes our outlook from fear to confidence.
And that helps us focus on the truly important things. Those that unleash the amazing life.
