God Rocks #5: Safety When the World’s Exploding

Part of the new series “God Rocks: 101 Amazing Everyday Gifts!” Stories and promises of the awesome blessings God gives us each day. I hope it encourages you today!

People are afraid right now in a way I’ve rarely seen. I notice it in talking with friends and reading Facebook and emails.

Frankly people have good reason to be scared.

Islamic terrorists are beheading people and threatening to attack us. Ebola is spreading into our country. Extreme weather is producing droughts in certain areas and floods in others.

Friends have said, “I’m not traveling anywhere. I’m staying close to home. I don’t even go out much. And no way am I getting me on an airplane.”

Yet, when we’re filled with fear it impacts all of our life. We simply stop living when we give into it. And then we lose.

I thought about one of my favorite promises the other day.

John writes, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (1 John 4: 4 NIV)

I love that thought. I don’t need to be afraid. Because I’m from God. I’m his child. I’m his ambassador. And I need to trust in him more than the evil in the world.

And yes, that’s a choice.

Do we focus on the evil one and trust in his power?

And John does make it personal. No these aren’t just some random bad circumstances. There is an evil one who is working his horror in our world.

Or do we trust in God who he says is greater than anything and anyone else?

See when we trust in God we don’t need to fear any longer.

Because the one living in us by faith is greater in power than the one living in the world creating all the havoc.
God is our all powerful father. And what loving father would let an evil man hurt his children? Let alone God whose love is even greater and purer?

And the result is God’s protection. We have a power in and surrounding us which is unlimited.

And from that we have peace inside that we’re not alone and at the mercy of all the evil which surrounds us.

Then we’re set free to live life again in the all the fullness God intended.

Do we live victorious in God’s power or threatened by the worlds evil? It’s our choice.

And the confidence that brings I simply find …

Amazing!

When have you seen God’s power at work protecting you?
