Seeing a Christmas Miracle

“He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”  (John 1:14 NLT)

Christmas is a fascinating time.  So many contrasts.

As at the original one, all of us see the same things yet respond so differently.

The star was seen by many yet only three magi journeyed and witnessed the miracle.

The sky was lit up with angels yet only a few shepherds found the baby.

And lest we be too critical, how often has God shown us a miracle that we pass off as good luck, coincidence or karma?

The problem is though, then we look for luck rather than the miracle worker.  And we see little of either.

Instead what would happen if we recognized the miracles we’ve received?

If when God intervenes in our lives we acknowledged it?  We saw it as the unconditional love of God who has unconstrained power using both to bless us with what we most deeply need?

If when we saw his miracles we thanked him for them?

And we spent time regularly worshiping him because of who he is?

If at Christmas time we stopped partying long enough to truly wonder at and thank God for his greatest miracle of all?

What would happen?

I would guess we might see a lot more miracles.

We would find a lot of our problems evaporating before the blazing glory of the one and only true son of God who lives with us and in us.

We might see the miracle of Christmas and pause in anticipation of the difference it makes.

Might be worth a try?

Hope you are having a great Christmas!
