How to Unlock Spiritual Mysteries

Most people, I think, wrestle with spiritual mysteries.

“Is there a God?”

“Can I have a relationship with him?”

“Why am I here?”

“What happens after this life?

Yet, on our own we really can’t penetrate those mysteries.  I mean, how could we?

So I often see people following a spiritual buffet.  Spoonfuls of various beliefs all lumped together in a confusing and unrecognizable mass.

Or people just reject the idea of God completely.

But you know, I believe for most of us until we get those answers we feel unsettled.

So how can we unlock the spiritual?  How can we penetrate the nebulous?

I know I’m not smart enough to figure it all out.  I can’t piece it all together.

So I do the only thing I can.  I read the book I believe God gave us to explain it.

And my plan is pretty simple.  Kind of fits my personality.

I read for about 10 minutes each night before I go to sleep.  No Bible study just read.

I read the New Testament from beginning to end each year.  And the Old Testament about every two years.

I read a modern translation that’s easy to understand.  Most of the time “The New International Version.”

That’s it.  Nothing fancy.  Told you it’s simplistic.

But I’ve found that no matter how hectic or stress filled my day it calms me.  Brings me a level of peace.

And I continually learn.  I read verses I’ve read before scores of times but now with new insights.

And I think I’m growing into a better person as those words fill my mind and heart throughout the day.

All pretty cool from such a simple plan.

It’s what Paul writes, “In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ.”  (Ephesians 3:4 NIV)

Simply reading the Bible ourselves gives us insights we won’t gain any other way.

We can unlock spiritual mysteries or grope around in the darkness, the choice is ours.

How do you plant God’s word in your heart?
