Filled with Joy and Rejoicing

“When the Lord prospers his people again they will be filled with happiness and rejoicing.” (Psalm 14: 7)

 

You may wander from God but he waits to prosper and fill you with joy again.

 

Father,

   Sometimes I’ve wandered from you but you have always welcomed me back,

      So instead I will walk with you everyday in your prosperity and happiness.

   Give me confidence in your blessings and expectation of your joy,

      Give me your happiness and gifts so I’m filled with rejoicing.

You Are Safe Inside the Fortress

“The Lord is a fortress of protection for his people.” (Psalm 14: 6)

 

When you feel threatened know God is still protecting you.

 

Lord,

   Thank you that you have always protected me even when I didn’t realize it,

      So I choose to rest inside your fortress at peace.

   Surround me with your power, watch over me in your love.

      When I doubt fill me with your confidence and when I worry fill me with your peace.

God is With You Constantly

Sometimes God may seem far away but he even then he’s with you.

 

Father,

   Thank you that even in those times I felt you were far away you were always with me.

      And I know you will be with me continually every moment.

   Help me to look with eyes of faith so I may see you,

      A quiet mind so I may hear you,

      And a peaceful heart so I may feel your presence.

The Lord delights in abundantly giving good and perfect gifts to his children.

 

Father,

   Thank you for all you have given me, good and perfect gifts, abundantly.

      And I praise you in anticipation of even greater gifts that you have planned for me.

   Help me not to doubt your love, instead fill me with anticipation of your gifts.

      So I may see all I have asked for and even more beyond my imagination.

What can stand against us when God’s love surrounds us?

 

Father,

  Thank you for your perfect love,  a love that never fails.

      I trust in your love that has never failed me and rest knowing it never will.

   Bathe my life in your perfect love,

      Forgive me for the times I’ve doubted it,

      Help me to see it more clearly so I may trust in it more fully.

Around us may at times seem dark but God fills us with his light of life.

 

Father,

   No matter how dark my surroundings you’ve filled me with your light,

     And your light brightens my heart and clarifies my way.

   Fill me with your light continually,

      Forgive me for focusing to often on the darkness,

      Help me to hold your promises and look towards your light.

Finding Peace When Feeling Threatened

Father,

   Sometimes I feel afraid, threatened by people and circumstances,

      Then I remember that if you are with me no one can stand against me.

   Calm me with your promise and presence,

      Surround me with your love and protection,

      Help me to live fully in your confidence and peace.

      Yet, when I focus on your promises I feel confident and at peace.

   Thank you for your promises which guide my actions and strengthen my heart.

      Quiet me with your peace that I may see your power.

      Fill me with your confidence that I may see your promises.

Seeing the Perfect in the Broken

We may face the imperfect but in the midst can see God’s face.

 

Father,

   Some days I feel overwhelmed by what is imperfect,

      Thank you that in the midst I can see what is perfect.

   Help me to see you in the midst of all I don’t want to see,

      Forgive me for focusing on the problems rather than your presence,

      Let me see you work what is perfect in that which is not.

Peace in the Face of Power

“The Lord is in his holy temple; he rules the earth from his throne in heaven.” (Psalm 11: 4)

 

Earthly rulers may seem powerful and fail; but God’s power is ultimate and won’t.

 

Lord,

   The powerful seem so far away from your righteousness,

      Yet, you rule with unlimited power and righteousness.

   Forgive me for fearing earthly powers and failing to trust in your power,

      Instead help me to rest in your power and forget about earthly powers,

      Let me see your power work and overcome those powers which work against you.
